Now you’ve got an account on Wikiriders, you can add a new surf spot.
You just have to come back on the home page and choose the country where you want to add a spot.
Then select the region and click on the link “add a spot”. You will be automatically redirected on the dedicated page.

Click on button “add this spot” and that’s it.
Your spot is on-line : )
How to use Wikiriders? Registering…
To add a new spot, let a comment about your last surf session or give some more informations about a wave, you must create an account on Wikiriders.
Like this, everyone has his own Wikiriders identity directly linked to his spots, comments and a geographic localisation.
To register you must click on the top left dedicated bouton on the home page. Then just enter an user name, your mail and a password. Nothing really difficult : ).
The only thing really specific is the localisation. Do not hesitate to zoom on the map before to valid your inscription. Because the level of zoom of your personal area will be really precise.
After having clicked on the regiter bouton, an email will be send to your mailbox. Just click on the link within and this is it, you will be automatically redirected on Wikiriders as logged.
How to use Wikiriders? Find a spot…
Even if Wikiriders has been designed to be really easy to use, here is a short tutorial to explain all the main features of the site. So first part of this tutorial: how to find a spot ?
Want some information about the spots near where you planned to surf? In this case, no need to register, just go to the map on the homepage and click on the red point of the country you‘re interested in it. Choose and click on the region you want to visit, then you will be redirected on the region page.
Once on the region page, you will have the possibility to “geolocalise” the spot you want to see by selected it directly on the map or by its name (both interact together). And then you are on the spot page: ).
And exactly the same process can be follow from the big map.
Secret spot policy
As we say in our presentation, wikiriders want to be open to everyone. And if we hope a lot of spot descriptions will be added, we also want to be very respectful and careful not to have any secret spot reveiled.
So we have provide 3 different ways to avoid this case.
First, the wikiriders team will always keep a eye on all new content added.
Secondly, more than 10 local surfers have accepted to moderate new spots in their region.
And third, on each spot page, there is an alert bouton specialy designed to alert moderators. Everyone can use if something doesn’t look good.
I hope you think these 3 degrees will be enough to guaranty a good working of the site. I’m always open to all your comments :)
New features (3)
What’s up about the new features of wikiriders…
First, thank you very much about all the comments and feedbacks we received about the ergonomy of Wikiriders. Thanks to them, the way to add a new spot in the good region will be soon improved.
By the way, the design of news blog of the website has also been refine with a nicer search box and availables categories.
On the road
Great news for Wikiriders, Google Map has just released for all Europe, the “normal” mode map. Now we can check for all Europe, every roads, towns…which are close to a spot.
Satellite view was still cool, but now the switch between both modes bring a new dimension to the localisation of a spot. And it open a lot of opportunities for new features on Wikiriders, maybe like itinary and many other things.
Here an exemple of map from Bordeaux to Biarritz, la Grande Plage :)

And today we are thinking to a new header, here is one of our draft, not a final version. So all yours comments are welcome.
