    Surf Monopoly

Surf news, Good surf websites, Surf Culture — emmanuel
    June 1, 2007 @ 12:14 pm

I knew the Paris, New york, London, StarTrek… editions but not yet the Surfing Monopoly.
I’m not really sure that surfing values like respect of each other and sharing are really matching with the game capitalistic concept of Monopoly. But actualy, I do not forget it just a very fun game. Moreover, as Nollie says, a percentage of profits go the Surfrider Foundation.

Now I’m hardently waiting the Cluedo Surfing Edition, where the purpose would be to find: who has snaked kelly, on which beach, and with which board :D

    Rip Curl Planet

Rip Curl News, Surf news, Surf Culture — emmanuel
    March 13, 2007 @ 11:13 am

RipCurl has always been engaged to fight against environment threat. Today, the surf brand continues in this way by presenting 4 commitments gathered in the RipCurl Planet programm. It inclues partnerships with WWF and Surfrider Fondation but moreover, the company is also seeking to reduce its own impact on the environment by improving its operation and by developing more ecological products. A good exemple of this engagement, is that you will never see any plastic bag in a RipCurl store.

More details here in french and also here in English.

Surfing is safer than soccer or basketball !

Surf news, Surf Culture — emmanuel
    February 14, 2007 @ 10:12 am

This is the result of a study found on the discovery channel website. Indeed, we can learn that a competitive surfers sustained 6.6 significant injuries per 1,000 hours of surfing… wow, it seems already enough but apparently is quite less than other sports.
Now, mums can be quiet : )

    King Arthur against sewage

    Surf news — emmanuel
    November 15, 2006 @ 11:52 am

Surfer Against Sewage association (SAS) always find new ways to communicate about the dommages thats sewage cost to nature. Recently some members disguised themself in legends of old times like Merlin, King Arthur… to warn about the low level of sewage traitement in the british city of Tintagel.

King Arthur, speaking on behalf of Surfers Against Sewage says: “I can’t believe the water company plans to provide such a low level of sewage treatment for half of the community and for the other half to not treat it all. As a community, Tintagel is hugely popular with visitors, recreational water users and exceeds the 2000 population equivalent that requires a minimum of secondary level treatment – without this treatment Tintagel will remain in the Dark Ages”.

Surf music from Japan - the classical themes

    Surf news — emmanuel
    November 6, 2006 @ 11:08 am

I know that Wikiriders is for now a European website but as music is universal I wanted to write a small note about a japanese artist: Takeshi Terauchi.
With his band “The Bunnys” he has released an album of classical theme like the symphony No 5 of Beethoven played in a surf music style, and it rocks : )

    Point break’s tribute

Surf news, Surf video, Good surf websites — emmanuel
    October 19, 2006 @ 2:15 pm

Point Break is one of the most popular film talking about surf. For a new DVD released, a video website has just being launch. On bodhisarmy, you can submit videos of you and friends surfing or talking about Bodhi’s philosophy :) And the best video maker will win an autographed surfboard.

This one is a mashup of Brokeback Mountain and Point Break. I don’t think it could win but it’s really funny.
