I knew the Paris, New york, London, StarTrek… editions but not yet the Surfing Monopoly.
I’m not really sure that surfing values like respect of each other and sharing are really matching with the game capitalistic concept of Monopoly. But actualy, I do not forget it just a very fun game. Moreover, as Nollie says, a percentage of profits go the Surfrider Foundation.
Now I’m hardently waiting the Cluedo Surfing Edition, where the purpose would be to find: who has snaked kelly, on which beach, and with which board :D
Some members of the french surf portail Surf4all have launch a new wiki about Surf. The website is quite new but we can already find many content. A great initiative all in GNU free documentation licence !
Video sharing and diffusion really is the biggest trend of the Internet. Kind of all these posts we write on this blog which deal with new directors, video websites…
Anyway, the most important thing is that the content must be of good quality. And this is the case with Arno, a video blog about surfing and surf culture. All the videos are filmed by Magicogonzales (its his Dailymotion username) and show great surfers in action, good waves, surf lessons for beginners or even a shaper doing his job. In one word, there are many things to watch :)
This one shows the massive weather that can hit la côte des Basques.
Our good friends at No Surf In Brighton have launched a cool feature to their website. It is called the Brighton Surf Movie Generator ! Il allows you to edit a surf movie by picking parts through the website footage and arange it your way. The best films will be showcased on the website and you might even be proposed to be in it.
Yes, congratulations to the people at skipass for coming up with that great idea. It’s called Zapiks, and it’s what we have been wanting for some time, a youtube for riders. Just to name a few, you’ll find : surf, snow, ski, skate, bmx videos and much more…
We have already set up an account there, check it out, you’ll find some of the Rip Curl videos, like the Wetdream teaser!
Of course they can, and the ASP(Association of surfing professionals) has set up a women’s only section on their website to show that they even kick ass at it.
The section is really well put together and even has its own color code, you can guess which color it is !
You’ll find all the latest news about the WWT, plenty of profiles, pictures, some features, rankings…
There’s also a podcast that you can subscribe to, the first episode is a Stephanie Gilmore interview.
Point Break is one of the most popular film talking about surf. For a new DVD released, a video website has just being launch. On bodhisarmy, you can submit videos of you and friends surfing or talking about Bodhi’s philosophy :) And the best video maker will win an autographed surfboard.
This one is a mashup of Brokeback Mountain and Point Break. I don’t think it could win but it’s really funny.
The film has been realeased in 2005 but this initiative is great. On Surfingrules.org we can find a film made in order to learn to everyone all the basic rules every surfers must respect in the ocean. All the different rules are realeased by podcast. There’s also some mini-games but not so easy to play.
